POSITION SUMMARY:
The Tech Transfer Engineer help bridges R&D and Production. Specifically, transferring processes from our sister facility in France. This engineer also leads the process optimization efforts to help stabilize the process and technology into production. The position reports to the R&D Team in France.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Understand and deploy processes into production that have been developed in an R&D setting.
- Develop/translate process documentation.
- Optimize processes to meet defined productivity and process yield targets before transferring to plant production.
- Organize and manage new process rollout on a machine by machine basis coordinating modifications to equipment/software/recipes etc.
- Travel to other manufacturing sites several times per year (Travel typically less than 10%).
- Define and implement improvement projects that reduce cost and or improve product quality.
- Comply with all applicable safety procedures and ISO14001 EMS guidelines.
- Querying and analyzing large sets of data to make data driven decisions.
- Develop and lead the plant’s culture of continuous process improvement.
- Report directly to R&D Leadership team in Douvrin, France.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- B.S. in Engineering
- 2 -5 years minimum of experience
- Capability to travel to other factories in Europe to understand and master new processes.
- Become the subject matter expert in the assigned process area.
- Experience in the optical fiber manufacturing industry (Deposition/Overclad/Fiber Draw processes).
- Fluent in French.
- Experience with statistical analysis tools such as Minitab and DMAIC/CI tools to structure and execute projects.
